Cattrig Force and Victoria Cave

13.2 miles

Yesterday was a complete washout for walking. Low cloud and heavy rain forced us to visit the spectacular White Scar Cave.

Today was our last chance for a decent walk, and taking account of yesterday's rain we headed for Cattrig Force.

The waterfall was splendid, and just about made up for the wet, windy weather and squelchy, muddy conditions underfoot. Fortunately(?) there was a significant amount of road walking which, at least, allowed us to make better progress than we were able over the moorland/hilside sections.

A climb to Victoria Cave on the return leg was muddy, slippery, and downright dangerous in places, but was just about worthwhile before we retraced part of our route earlier in the week along Attermire Scar (albeit in completely different conditions).

A long trudge along a metalled track and minor road brought us back into Settle.
