THE SANDSTONE TRAIL

Frodsham to Whitchurch - 34 miles

Well, it's been a long time coming, but we finally decided to take advantage of Carolyn's parents' close proximity to The Sandstone Trail.

The long Easter weekend presented us with an ideal opportunity to walk the Trail and still leave time to catch up with family.

Taking full advantage of free accommodation and a kind offer of transport at the start and end of each day, the planning stages for this walk were significantly reduced. Carolyn's Mum even bought, and posted, us the guidebook. What a wondeful family I married into ....

The Sandstone Trail is 34 miles long. We split it into two convenient stages, breaking approximately halfway at the Shady Oak pub near Tarporley:
Frodsham to The Shady Oak - 16 miles
The Shady Oak to Whitchurch - 18 miles

By way of saying "Thank You" to Carolyn's parents, we treated them (and us !) to a slap-up meal at The Shady Oak at the end of the first day ... and I would heartily recommend the food (and drink) there.
